Time to Go Muddin’: CX Sale

In order for us to properly express our excitement for the upcoming CX season, it’s only fitting that we get the ball rolling with a Cyclocross bike and Gear sale. We’re offering 10-25% off cyclocross bikes, and 15% off CX gear. The sale will be going on up until our epic CX kickoff party on 9/23.

We want to make it easy for you to try out one out our favorite type of racing. If you’re a roadie and you’re entertaining the idea of racing CX, all you need is a bike, MTB shoes, and MTB pedals (embrocation is also strongly reccomended). Lucky for you, we have all that and more. Stop by the shop, check out our CX selection, and we’ll take care of you.

Ring in the CX year

It’s that time of the year again. The road season is coming to a burnt-out end, the weather (hopefully soon) gets cooler, and we start to long for mud and cowbells. the 2010 cyclocross season is set to kick off with Nittany Lion ‘Cross on September 11th. The season will be chock full of barriers, caution tape, and screaming fans.

In celebration of our favorite racing season, We’re throwing another season kickoff party. The event will take place at the shop on Thursday, September 23rd, from 7-9PM. We will be showing some epic CX movies, drinking delicious Kelso Beer, and its rumored that Wafels & Dinges might unexpectedly show up.

We will have our CX bikes and equipment out and ready to go. We’ll have some excellent embrocation from Mad Alchemy and Sportique for you to try out. If you’re interested in trying out this awesome sport, then stop by. We’ve got all the equipment an awkward roadie needs to transform into a barrier hopping, beer guzzling machine.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to pre-register for Staten CX, which is going down on 11/13. It’s the only (and therefore the best) Cyclocross race in NYC.

BOTW: Vanilla SS CX

With the road racing season in its death throes, we can’t help but look ahead with muddy, beer-filled anticipation and see that another season of cyclocross is just around the bend. In preparation for the CX festivities to come in the next few weeks, this BOTW is none other than a gorgeous SS Vanilla CX rig. Complete with incongnito carbon tubies, this Vanilla is ready to be lusted over by the single speed connoisseurs of the CX scene. Whether it’s clean or caked in mud, this svelt CX rig is sure to turn heads. See you guys at the barriers and beer tents in a few weeks!

We Are The Worlds – UPDATE

UPDATE: A streaming feed will be available for Worlds starting at 12noon. We’re still planning to have the kickoff start at 10am, so feel free to drop in whenever.

Cyclocross season is officially wrapping up, punctuated by the the World Championships in Tabor, Czech Republic on Sunday. We’re gonna host a little shindig and see if we can’t get some kind of web stream of the race up on the big screen. We’ll have the Giotto firing on all cylinders, pulling shots of Stumptown and Intelligentsia - along with some baked goods and a few special friends from out of town. This is all happening at 10am, this Sunday, January 31st.

OHHYEAHH!

If you’ve met our sales associate Chad, you’ve probably been greeted with his trademarked, Kool-Aid Man-esque “Ohhhyeaaaah!”

Well, that sums up our sentiments exactly when we heard that the CyclingDirt website is going to be video streaming the CX Nationals in Bend, OR this weekend.

While we can’t vouch for the quality or reliability of the stream (yet), we’re gonna do our best to show it on the big screen in the shop when it’s available.

If you’re stuck on the East Coast and jonesing for a ‘cx fix, swing by on Saturday or Sunday!

SICX, In The Bag

We took in Staten Island Cyclocross this past weekend, and it was a blast. Not only was the weather perfect, there was a great turnout of ‘cross racers from all over the nation – and a little network called CNN even turned up to report on the festivities!

Our friend Kevin Dillard took some fantastic pics of the race. Check them out here. And there a few more sets here, and here.

And much to our enjoyment, promoter and ‘cross coureur extraordinaire CJ hit us with this fact : 250+ racers turned out, and that’s double 2008′s numbers! While we are not psychic, we remain confidently optimistic for the popularity of ‘cross in NYC – and we are predicting that 2010 will be off the charts.
