Pegoretti Duende Piaza Red w/D11 & FALZ 56cm (Dario Built)
It was Federico García Lorca who first defined the aesthetics of the Duende, writing "The duende, then, is a power, not a work. It is a struggle, not a thought. I have heard an old maestro of the guitar say, 'The duende is not in the throat; the duende climbs up inside you, from the soles of the feet.' Meaning this: it is not a question of ability, but of true, living style, of blood, of the most ancient culture, of spontaneous creation." A heightened state of emotion and the spirit of evocation, as well as a golblin-like creature from Spanish folklore. This bike from Dario Pegoretti seeks to further explore the concept of Duende.
Drawn to Dario's specification, the Columbus Spirit tubing is more traditional in its styling and shapes, and results in a kinder, more forgiving ride than some of its brethren. Accompanied with the Pegoretti-designed, and possibly the prettiest "Grey" paint scheme you'll ever see. We've seen all the battleship-gray paint jobs and we're not impressed. This abstract-inspired grey Duende turns the absence of color into an asset.
NOTE that this frame was built by Dario prior to his passing in 2018. It is New Old Stock and was repainted in 2022 by Cicli Pegoretti to repair a paint blemish acquired during shipping.
NOTE that this frame comes with the Chris King D-11 headset developed in partnership with Dario Pegoretti to work specifically with his oversized tubesets.
